Albert Pack

Albert Dean Pack, 82, of Stephenville, died Wednesday, January 24, 2018, in Stephenville.

Memorial services were Saturday, Jan. 27 at Stephenville Funeral Home Chapel with Zac Harrell officiating. 

Albert was born on Sept. 5, 1935 in Erath County, to the late Floyd and Mary Belle Smith Pack. He married Annie Mae Tischler on June 26, 1954 in Shive, Texas. She preceded him in death. On July 21, 1984 in Gustine, Texas,

Albert married Janice Kimbel Moore. Albert was a member of the First Baptist Church of Gustine, Fine Arts Council, and a lifelong resident of Erath County. He retired as a Line Superintendent from Erath County Electric Cooperative (United Cooperative Services).

Survivors include his wife, Jan; daughters, Katharine Demetruk of Stephenville, Joyce Thetford of Dublin, Lois Bentley of Driftwood, and Janna Daniels of Granbury; son, James Kimbel and Darren Carpenter of Stephenville; sister,


John Moore

John Russell Moore, 80, died on Jan. 29, 2018. 

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. on Feb. 2, 2018, at Harrell Memorial Chapel.Service will be Saturday, Feb. 3, 2018, at 11 a.m. in Harrell Memorial Chapel. Interment will follow at Carlton Cemetery.

John was born in Brown County, Texas, to his parents, Henry Battle Moore and Margaret Pearl (Turney).

He married Aileen Elizabeth (Broyles) on July 7, 1962, in Abilene. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving during the Korean era. He graduated Abilene Christian College with a degree in economics. John also worked as a banker, farmer, and also, for a short time, gulf oil in New Orleans.

John was a devout Baptist, a Master Mason, a member of the Lion’s Club and an active member of the Gustine community with different organizations.

He is preceded in death by his daughter, Carla, on August 7, 2012.


Carl Schott

Carl David Schott died at his home on January 23, 2018 in Dublin, Texas at the age of 51 years, 11 months & 29 days. He was born on Jan. 25, 1966 in Luxemburg, Wi. His was the son of Hilary T. Schott and Deloris (Rueckl) Schott.

Carl enjoyed hunting and fishing. He loved doing anything outdoors and went on many special hunting trips while living in Texas. He also enjoyed his grandson, all of his nieces and nephews, and his great nieces and nephews.

Carl is survived by his daughter - Hope Paider  of Reedsville, Wi.; his sister - Barb  Mencheski of Denmark, Wi.; his brothers - Theodore  Schott of Luxemburg, Wi., Gerald Schott of Maribel, Wi., James Schott of Green Bay, Wi.; Lloyd Schott of Denmark, Wi.; a grandson; his nephews, nieces & spouses; many aunts, uncles, great nieces and nephews and also his dear friends- Michael & Tiffany Richardson.


Joy "Peggy" Meyer

Ms. Joy “Peggy” Burdette Meyer, of Bentonville, Arkansas, formerly of Big Spring, Texas, passed away at The Bradford House, Bentonville, AR January 25, 2018.

Joy was born to parents R. B. and Willie Alice Burdette on October 28, 1934, in Menard, Texas. She grew up in Dublin, where she graduated high school in 1952. In 1952, Joy attended Texas Wesleyan College, School of Nursing, Ft. Worth, Texas, City County Hospital. While in Ft. Worth, Joy met her husband, Leonard W. “Bill” Meyer and they married on July 2, 1954, moved to northwest Iowa and farmed for 11 years. Joy was a caring nurse while in Iowa, later in Texas and New Mexico. She loved her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, as well as traveling.


John Beireis

Memorial services for John J. Beireis, 45, will be held at 3 p.m. Monday, Jan. 29, 2018, at Lacy Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Bill Allen officiating. Arrangements are by Lacy Funeral Home.

John was born in Piqua, Ohio on Oct. 26, 1972 to Nita Chism and Mike Beireis.

John was an automotive technician who worked for Texstar for many years.

Survivors include his life partner, Cindy R. Kennedy of Stephenville, Texas; three children Desiree Hartwigsen of Fort Worth, Texas, Cheyenne Kennedy of Stephenville, Texas, and CJ Rosche of Stephenville, Texas; mother, Nita Chism of Piqua, Ohio; maternal grandmother, Josephine Gast of Piqua, Ohio; two brothers, Brian Beireis of San Diego, California, and Scott Beireis of Piqua, Ohio.

John is preceded in death by his father Mike Beireis “Papa Smurf” and brother Mike Beireis. 


Alexis De Leon

Leaving this world too early, Alexis Yajaira De Leon, 22, has passed through the gates of Heaven on January 21, 2018. 

Visitation will be Thursday, Jan. 25 at Harrell Memorial Chapel.

Funeral Service will be 1 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 26 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church with interment to follow in Dublin Live Oak Cemetery. 

Alexis was born to her parents, Daniel Guadalupe De Leon and Eulalia Lozano Padilla, on October 11, 1995, in Brownwood, Texas.

She graduated Dublin High School in 2015. She worked at Emerson Electronics for almost two years and spent time studying Cosmetology at Ranger College in Stephenville. She was loved by many and had a beautiful disposition on life.


Ester McMillian

Ester Flodean McMillian has joined the Lord in heaven on Jan. 19, 2018. She was the daughter of Floyd Benjamin Funderburg and Myrtle Elizabeth (Lawhon). 

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 25 in Harrell Funeral Home with interment to follow in Hanson Cemetery in Comanche County.

A luncheon, at First Baptist Church in Dublin, will begin at noon prior to the funeral service. Visitation will be Wednesday, Jan. 24 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Harrell Memorial Chapel.

Born in Aspermont, Texas, on April 4, 1926, Ester was one of five children. 

She married Jesse Lloyd McMillian on March 23, 1946 in Dublin. Together they raised 10 children. Ester spent time working as a certified nursing assistant and as a homemaker.

Ester was preceded in death by her husband in June of 1997. 

Also preceding was her two sisters - Lorita Elizabeth and Mary Lois, her two brothers - Harvey B. and Benjamin Floyd, Jr., and one granddaughter.


Mary Walls

Mary Walls died on Jan. 20, 2018 at the age of 96 years, 2 months & 16 days. 

Funeral services are 2 pm., Tuesday, Jan. 23, 2018 at First Baptist Church in Dublin. Visitation is Tuesday morning until service time at Harrell Funeral Home.

Interment will follow in West End Cemetery in Stephenville, Texas. Memorials may be made to a local humane society.

Mary was born on Nov. 4, 1921 in Hico, Texas. 

She was the daughter of William E. Heatly and Dulcie E. (Smith) Heatly. She was united in marriage to T. L. “Pete” Walls on Nov. 11, 1943 in Eagle Pass, Texas and to this union three children were born.

Mary was a retired English teacher at the Dublin Independent School District from 1967 until 1989. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Dublin.

She was preceded in death by her husband on April 4, 1964 & her nephew Mark Humphries in 2005.


Steven Sims

Steven James Sims, age 53, died the morning of Jan. 13, 2018. He was the son of James Elmer Sims and Bernice (Van Ryte) Sims.

Graveside service will be Saturday, Jan. 20 at 2 p.m. in the Upper Greens Creek Cemetery.

Steven worked as an auto mechanic until he retired. He was also a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps.

Steven was preceded in death by his father, James Sims, and his sister, Deborah Sims.

He will be remembered by his fiancé, Tonya Reno of Joshua, Texas; his mother, Bernice Sims; his close friends, Becky Gorman of Joshua and Jim  and Mary Roth of Crowley, Texas; and his service dog, Buffy Sims, as well as many more friends and relatives who cherish his memory.


Genetha George

Genetha George, age 93, died on Thursday, January 11, 2018, in Comanche County, Texas.

She was born on March 23, 1924, in Comanche, to G. R. and Minnie (Williams) Ripley.  On Jan.13, 1941, she was united in marriage to W. R. “Josh” George in Comanche.  He preceded her in death in December, 1979. Genetha was devoted to her family, a wonderful mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother.  She was a member of the Church of Christ.

She is survived by two sons: Johnny George of Proctor, and Tommy George of Stephenville; two daughters, Brenda Diaz of Comanche; Joyce Dunn of Lubbock, 10 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and 12 great-great-grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by one son, Richard George.

Graveside service will be at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 14, 2018, at Oakwood Cemetery in Comanche, with Rev. Harold Higginbotham officiating.  Condolences may be offered online at
