Girls win third in district

Dublin defeated Early on Tuesday evening in three sets, 25-14, 25-22 and 25-13, to take third place in the District.

“This was a great win to have going into the playoffs,” head coach Ryan Lewis said. “Our serving was the key. The girls did a great job hitting their zones and kept Early out of system.”

Maeleigh Geijsel hit 11 kills, a dig and a block. 

Kylie Curtoys served five aces across 15 serves, as well as making 15 assists, a kill and 11 digs. 

Yakelin Morantes got 18 digs. 

Hamilton 3, Dublin 0
Hamilton defeated Dublin on Friday in three sets, 25-18, 25-22 and 25-17. 

Morantes saved a substantial 32 digs in the game, keeping Dublin close throughout the back-and-forth sets. 

Addison Stout led in kills with seven and she served an ace and hit a block. 

Curtoys made 14 assists, six kills and two block assists. 

Despite tied records with Hamilton, both 7-3, they will not play for second place because Hamilton has defeated Dublin twice.

Dublin will take on No. 2 seat Jim Ned in the Bi-District round of playoffs on Tuesday at 7:30 in Bangs. 

In the preseason, Dublin defeated Jim Ned in three sets.

No. 1 Eastland will play either Coleman or Coahoma, Hamilton will play Colorado City and Early will play Clyde.
